Student Helps Feed 60 People!

An Oswestry Key Stage 4 student has begun volunteering with a local community initiative to help provide ‘food, exercise and friendship’ for anyone in the local area who feels they would like to take part.

The student went with a Learning Mentor to help prepare a community lunch at Hope Church in Oswestry on Tuesday which was shared by 60 people. She helped chop vegetables (lots and lots and lots of carrots) to make cottage pie for everyone.

Dr Garside, Assistant Headteacher, says “Working on projects like this helps our young people gain valuable social skills and vocational opportunities whilst supporting the community.”

This student will continue to support this project weekly and said ‘I had a great time and everyone was really lovely!’ We hope other students will get involved in the future as well.
