Gurdwara visit
Children from TMBSS Primary went to visit the Telford Gurdwara – Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji to learn about the Sikh religion and way of life.
Children were shown where the holy book, the Guru Granth Sahi, is kept and taken care of. Sikh’s use this as a guide through their lives. They learnt about the birth of Sikhism in India 500 years ago and how people who follow this religion live all over the world now. They were taught about the way Sikhs demonstrate kindness to others by giving money to charity and welcoming all people to the Gurdwara. The children practised some meditation, and some tried on a turban! They also shared Indian vegetarian food prepared for them by volunteers in the langar.
